Would you pay $165,000 for this watch?

The Urwerk 202 Twin Turbine Hammerhead White Gold has to be one of the coolest wrist watches that I’ve seen in a long while. Time on the UR-202 is displayed using telescopic minute hands operating through the middle of three orbiting and revolving hour satellites. The UR-202 is the world?s first watch with the winding [...]

?Open? Web Browsers Now Majority Of Web ? WebKit Continues Rise

A month just ended, which means new stats. In the world of web browsers, there are two particularly interesting ones of significance. One points to "open" web browsers now in the majority amongst those that surf the web. Another points to WebKit browsers passing Firefox, to claim the number two position amongst web surfers. As first noticed by Google's Peter Beverloo this morning, StatCounter's July numbers show that Firefox and Chrome, when combined, now account for over 50 percent of web browsing. Technically, Firefox now has a 27.95 percent share, while Chrome has 22.14 percent. Combined, their 50.09 percent easily beat IE's 42.45 percent.

Seagate's GoFlex Satellite HDD invites Android users to its media streaming party

When we took a look at Seagate's GoFlex Satellite back in May, we recommended that non-iOS buyers hold off until the company rolled out an app for different operating systems. Android users take note, the storage company today took the wraps off of an app that lets users wirelessly stream content like HD videos from the external hard drive to devices running their favorite dessert-themed mobile OS. No internet connection is required to stream, you just need to be in range of the drive. The 500GB GoFlex Satellite has a built-in battery that can stream video for up to five hours. The drive will run you $200, but the Android app is decidedly more free. Check the relevant press info below.

iCloud.com goes live

iCloud.com goes liveiCloud.com is now live… if you have an Apple ID that works with iCloud. Here’s the thing — it’s meant for developers right now, and Apple IDs are still fragmented to the extent that for some people, iCloud might not be too useful yet. For example, you may try to login with your MobileMe ID [...]

Pastebin updated to V3, releases Windows app

pastebin
Pastebin is a very popular website aimed at coders and other nerdy types, which allows them (or should I say, us) to paste and share snippets of code with lovely syntax highlighting.

It has recently undergone a major overhaul which includes the release of a brand new Windows client. The new client lets you create new "pastes" and manage your existing ones. It joins a host of other tools from Pastebin, such as the Google and Chrome extensions, OS X widget and the mobile apps.

If you're currently using Pastebin, the new client is a great addition. And if you haven't tried it before, next time you have a piece of code you want to share or get some feedback on, you could do worse than try out Pastebin.

[Thanks, Jeroen!]

Maker Faire pony has Wiimote-controlled indigestion, belches fire (video)

There's a good reason why My Little Pony wasn't marketed to boys. Shown off at the 2011 Maker Faire in Detroit, this animatronic, fire-breathing horsie got to spread a little heat thanks to the Louisville, KY-based modding duo, LVL1. The partially Wiimote-controlled mechanical filly is the result of the duo's Hackerspace efforts, and plans are already underway to loose this steed into the great, fully wireless open. Also on deck for the hot-mouthed stallion: a flame-spewing cabbage patch doll riding companion. How's that for a DIY-perversion of your precious 80s youth? Peep the full pyromania-tinged project after the break.

EA Appreciation Day: TechCrunch Style

Many of you may know this, or may not, but Michael Arrington has an amazing new assistant, Greg Barto. Greg came to us from Hollywood and we have been kindly teaching him the ropes of TechCrunch and what to expect. However, we are not sure we prepared him for this. Since Greg is somewhat new to San Francisco, he still doesn't know the city that well. So, Mike has decided to give Greg a different job for a day. Have you ever wanted to be able to make someone do something, anything, and then watch it happen? Well starting tomorrow morning at 10am PT, you may be able to do just that. Greg's job for tomorrow is to fulfill things that YOU want him to do. Imagine the possibilities. Want to have Greg bring you food from your favorite restaurant? Or maybe have Greg mow your lawn while you are at work? Our TCTV crew, Zaarly's Shirley, and me, will be following him tomorrow as he fulfills things you want him to do for you.

How would you change RIM's BlackBerry PlayBook?

RIM's 7-inch PlayBook may be lovely to hold, and that gesture area along the bezel is downright genius, but the QNX-powered slate hasn't had the easiest time taking on the likes of Samsung's Galaxy Tab 10.1 and Apple's iPad 2. Still, RIM's following is amongst the most loyal in the industry, and those who wouldn't leave the house sans a BlackBerry handset may have been inclined to give this guy a go. If that's you, we're overly interested in hearing how you'd do things differently. Would you have preferred a larger screen? Android app support right out of the box? A beefier software store? Go on and get creative in comments below -- something tells us RIM isn't exactly in a position to turn a deaf ear.

Cueboy Quest is an adorable 8-bit style physics game

cueboyquest
Yes, that's right, I said adorable. Because Cueboy Quest really is!

You play an 8-bit cowboy whose goal on each level is to get to the door (and thus to the next level), but the door is often locked. To get it to open, you must shoot at one or more targets, and those targets aren't always in your line of sight. For example, on one level the the target is a balloon which is stuck all the way at the other end of the screen. You must first nudge it free, and then watch it float up and try to shoot it before it floats clear off the screen. Your bullets are chunky pixels that have some weight - the have arcing trajectories, so you don't always hit exactly where you aim.

There's another level where you must jump on the balloon as it floats up, use it as a platform to get to the other end of the screen, and then turn to shoot it very quickly before it flies away. Each level is very short, and most of them are quite easy. And not only are the graphics 8-bit blocky, but they're large too. Simply beautiful!
